原标题：Report: India Considers to Issue State-backed Cryptocurrency

A senior government official familiar with the matter revealed that a panel of the Ministry of Finance may soon suggest the that Indian government issue a state-backed cryptocurrency, and is evaluating this kind of cryptocurrency and cypto token, looking to develop and encourage theirown research and development of blockchain technology, according to a report from Quartz India.
As the local media said, the panel was founded in December 2017, led by Subhash Chandra Garg, secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The panel was originally due to submit the report by July, then postpone the deadline to the end of this year.
ChainDD noted that another media Cryptoinsider’s source said India’s Ministry of Finance created a reviewing group to identify the country’s regulatory framework of digital currency and suggest the launch of a state-backed cryptocurrency. The group was also discussing amendment of Currency Act, so as to define the unauthorized holding of any digital currency as a criminal behavior, and make such holders receive punishment.返回搜狐，查看更多
